Swamp Dragons

Matthew joined a local soccer team this year coached by his friend's dad. It is the first year playing soccer for many of them and they are still learning about the strategies... and rules... of the game.
His team tries hard and has yet to win a game, but it has been close. They have even scored a couple of goals.
Matthew's first injury in a game. It almost ended his career in soccer. Fortunately the pain only lasted about 30 seconds.
It is hard to get a shot like this with only one or two players near the ball. Six year olds playing soccer tend to all chase the ball in swarms. They are getting better at maintaining their positions, but that backfires unless everyone is doing it well. I think they actually play better with the swarm strategy.
These photos are from the start of the season to November. The team has improved a great deal since they started and some days are better than others. The weather has a lot to do with their spirits, though they are usually good. Expect more photos to follow of more recent games in less than ideal weather.
