Buntzen Lake

Matthew and Jocelyn spent most of the summer at Buntzen Lake with their friends. They are there so much they have their own spot on the beach.

There is a small dock down the beach where people jump, swim and fish (you wouldn't think those things mixed).

Buntzen Lake is a BC Hydro resevoir used to generate hydro electric power. Water is piped through a tunnel from Coquitlam Lake into Buntzen Lake and then down to the power plants on Indian Arm. Fortunately the water is piped out at the north end and the beach is at the south end. Two of the power generators built in 1914 are still in operation.

A trip to the beach is no small matter. They take coolers, chairs, food, and toys. One day it's temporary tattoos, then bubble mix...

The next day it's jumping off the dock
