Day 11 in New Zealand

Before we left Rotorua in the morning we had one last stop we had to make... at the Zorb hill. Zorbing is where they put you into a soft plastic ball and roll you down a hill. It has been compared to a hamster ball. Matthew and I really wanted to try it. We chose to Hydro Zorb - where there is no harness and they put a bit of water in the sphere for lubrication.

There is the straight track where you are allowed to Hydro Zorb together and Zig Zag track shown above where Matthew and I each went alone. They give prizes for those who can stand all the way down - I didn't even try.

I think Matthew had a good time and got a bit wet.

After we left Rotorua we headed to Lake Taupo where we spent the next two nights. We stopped just outside Taupo for lunch at the prawn farm and took a spin on the Huka Jet.

The Huka Jet is a jet boat ride between Huka falls and the Aratiatia Dam. They go fast and don't need much clearance under the boat (or from the trees). You can see just how fast, and close, we were going in the picture above. That wooden post was in the river and traveling past us at 80km/h.

It is also a good way to see the Huka Falls.

We eventually got to Taupo and found the coolest McDonald's with a DC-3 taking advantage of the Drive-Thru. Actually the DC-3 is part of the restaurant with seating at tables inside the plane. Posted by Hello
